MyDefence Redefines Wearable Drone Detection with Wingman Edge

New wearable drone detector weighs less than 1 kg (2.2 lbs) and combines signature-based detection with continuous AI-powered spectrum analysis, running simultaneously on the device.

Aalborg, Denmark – October 6, 2026 – MyDefence today unveiled Wingman Edge, its next-generation wearable drone detector, bringing continuous AI-powered RF spectrum analysis directly to the individual soldier.

MyDefence has made the device both smarter and lighter. Wingman Edge weighs less than 1 kg (2.2 lbs), making it 17% lighter than the previous generation, and combines signature-based RF detection with continuous onboard AI spectrum analysis.

The system is designed to analyze RF activity beyond signals already stored in a threat library. This allows Wingman Edge to identify and classify a broader range of activity, including drone signals, controllers, communications links, Wi-Fi, analog video and previously unknown signals.

“The evolving drone threat does not wait for a database to be updated” said Dan D. S. Hermansen, CEO of MyDefence. “For more than a decade, we have put wearable drone detection into the hands of soldiers. Wingman Edge builds on that foundation by giving the individual soldier a much deeper understanding of what is happening in the spectrum around them, including activity that does not match an existing signature.”

AI at the edge – intelligence on the frontline

Wingman Edge processes and classifies signals directly on the device, bringing real-time AI-powered intelligence to the tactical edge. The feature enables fast, autonomous analysis even in environments where network connectivity is limited or unavailable.

Wingman Edge remains passive by design, allowing the system to monitor the electromagnetic environment without transmitting RF energy. Individual Wingman Edge devices can also share detections and spectrum intelligence with other soldiers, vehicles and connected systems, allowing observations from the tactical edge to contribute to a broader operational picture.

By connecting intelligence across devices, forces can build greater shared awareness across the battlespace, providing a strategic advantage through faster understanding and more informed decision-making.

At the core of the system is MyDefence Spectrum Intelligence, the company’s software and intelligence layer combining RF data, threat knowledge and AI to detect, classify and interpret activity across the electromagnetic spectrum.

MyDefence Spectrum Intelligence is designed to be backward compatible with existing MyDefence systems, allowing operators to build on capabilities already deployed rather than requiring an entirely new hardware architecture.

Wingman Edge evolves MyDefence’s existing wearable drone detection platform. During the past 18 months, the U.S. Army has purchased MyDefence wearable drone-detection systems with a cumulative value of USD 77 million.

First product in the MyDefence Edge Generation

Wingman Edge is the first product in MyDefence’s new Edge Generation, a family of technologies intended to move more sensing, processing and intelligence directly to deployed platforms.

The approach is designed to allow RF activity to be detected and analyzed locally while relevant information can also be distributed across connected units and command systems.

Wingman Edge is the first new product powered by MyDefence Spectrum Intelligence.

The same intelligence layer is intended to extend across existing and future MyDefence dismounted, mounted, fixed-site and maritime capabilities.
